Office Furniture Maintenance

Function provide a whole range of services to maintain the usefulness and increase the life-span of your office furniture. These services include routine but essential tasks, such as key replacement, through to highly specialised projects, such as French polishing. Whichever type of service you require, you can be certain that Function will deliver it promptly and efficiently, with minimal disruption to your staff and the running of your business.

General repairs

Repairs to all types of office furniture including seating, desking and storage. All repair specialists are skilled craftsmen, trained to provide an expert service.

Desk electrics

Function has a team of BS 6396 certified electrical testers who can ensure the safety and compliance of your furniture installations.

  • Supply and installation to BS 6396 of sockets and cabling specifically designed for use with office furniture. Remember that BS 6396 is a standard relating to complete electrical systems and not to specific electrical accessories. So, although products may comply with the relevant clauses of this standard, full compliance requires correct installation of the system.
  • On-site testing of existing or new power modules to guarantee safety to the user. Strict rules apply to the testing and certification of furniture that carries electric cables — certification is valid for 12 months, after which re-testing is a mandatory Health and Safety at Work requirement.

Repairs and spares

Function can source and supply replacement components and accessories, including keys and locks for most cabinets and pedestals.

French polishing

We can offer on or off-site repair to modern, contemporary, classic or reproduction wood furniture and finishes. All work is carried out by Function's expert polishers.

  • Minor repairs — on-site treatment of small scratches, stains and blemishes
  • Wash and revive service — on-site or off-site treatment of finishes and lacquers
  • Total restoration — off-site wood revival in a dust-free environment
  • Re-staining of new or existing products
  • Not just furniture — reception counters, doors, panels, name plaques

Re-spraying

This is designed to extend the life and use of metal furniture products such as storage cabinets, leg frames and pedestals. In order to minimise disruption to your business, this process may be carried out on site.
