Function has completed the fourth phase of Penguin Books' move which allows them to sub-let space in the landmark UK Head Office site at Shell Mex House, 80 The Stand in London's West End. To do this the remaining occupied floors, of which there are three, containing a total of 1,200 staff, were redesigned. In turn, this has resulted in all 1,200 staff being relocated within the building at least once, sometime twice or even three times. As Function had helped Penguin move across London only a few years ago as part of a group restructure, we have been called upon again to provide ongoing porterage and move services.
The services supplied to date have included:
. Twenty weeks of porterage Mon-Fri to provide pre/post
move support
. Packing of files/books
. Preparation of patching schedules after each move
weekend
Each move weekend (of which there were 19) consisted of:
. Full desktop IT decom/recom service
. Packing and transfer of IT
. Transfer of personal crates (many of a confidential nature
using
numbered seals)
. Dismantling and reconfiguration of existing Vitra
furniture
including the installation of a new screens and leg
arrangements
. Supply of hire desks, pedestals, screens and cable trays
whist new
product is ordered (approx. 60 units currently on site)
. Managing off-site storage of surplus furniture until it is
required
back on site
. Sustainable recycling of redundant furniture including
seating,
meeting room furniture, storage and desking
