European Tour tees off with Function
Wednesday, May 19, 2010
Architects Griffiths Design Consultants, brought in Function to implement their strategy for the reconfiguration of the internal building layout at the iconic Wentworth Golf Club. Three floors were reconfigured to accommodate an additional twelve people in the European Tour offices.
Function undertook the detailed planning and liaison with the departments involved to provide the best use of space and furniture layouts given the restrictions of the quirky building. Different sized existing furniture was reutilised and sufficient space provided for new furniture to meet the increased headcount demands and some future expansion.
Working to a strict budget, the brief included relocating partitions, lighting, air conditioning, broadloom carpet, power supply and move management of the staff and contents during the programme. Function was responsible for coordinating all the work and the complex task was aided by having one of Functions full time move managers on site to act as an interface between the various parties involved including the plumbers, carpenters, decorators, builders and movers.
Function proposed project phasing, which took into account the European Tour staff absences, was adopted and all deadlines were met with staff working effectively following each weekend move.
