Well Within The Legal Limit

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

Lawyers are a tricky bunch to move on the whole. Courts and caseloads don't stop just because entire buildings of people and effects need moving across the city and we can't even rely on having the evenings to ourselves as solicitors are seldom nine to five people.

Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP put us through our paces recently in a move of 150 staff from Fetter Lane to Dashwood House. We supplied a full time Move Manager who kept everything running smoothly and carried out filing audits/allocations and looked after labelling, move packs and all move co-ordination.

We sequentially packed and unpacked 1,600 linear metres of filing, case rooms and library contents. Careful packing and unpacking of breakables, artwork and memorabilia was essential, as was decommissioning, removal and distribution of telephone handsets and printers. Finally print room contents were transferred and the old building was handed over to sister company Clear Environment for clearance of redundant equipment.

The move was a great success, with Function delivering the project ahead of schedule, despite the new furniture arriving late and access problems at Dashwood House. The client's facilities manager even said it was the smoothest move that he had ever been involved in which gave us a little glow of pride.
