BrandMe is a design consultancy specialising in branding which recently moved from Covent Garden to its brand new office in The Strand. 'Space' was the name of this particular game with no lift in the old building and a very small one, which could only be used to take crates, at the new place which was on the fourth floor.
To make matters worse there was a delay in signing the lease which meant less than two weeks notice for all the trades and contractors for the constructing partitions and finishing floors. With the old building needing to be cleared by Friday night after the move started on Thursday there was no margin for error. Overcoming parking issues was a major hurdle given Operations had less than the statutory notice period for getting parking restriction suspensions.
The Vitra furniture needed to be reconfigured and the specialist parts took six weeks to arrive. To make the office work Function's specialist fitters sourced temporary legs and other parts that were replaced by the Vitra parts on arrival.
Challenges are there to be beaten - and Function beat them all delivering the project ahead of schedule and within budget.
PS - This is what the client wrote to us after the move:
Dear Mark,
I wanted to write and thank Function for doing such a superb job in
carrying out our office move. Everyone from Function worked
incredibly hard and really went the extra mile for BrandMe. From
the start it was obvious to me that you had a much clearer idea of
what was needed with this difficult move than some of the other
companies that quoted for us. Your desking expert in particular did
a great job of sorting out all our various desk issues.
However I must convey my special thanks to Keith and his team for
their absolutely outstanding service. Despite the fact that I
seemed to have an unending list of questions and tasks for him over
the three days of the move, Keith was always thoroughly helpful and
courteous and managed everything with a smile. It was a real
pleasure to work with him and I also noted the way that Keith
managed his team, organising them and ensuring that they always
behaved impeccably in front of staff.
Keith and his team were a thorough credit to Function and I would
have no hesitation in recommending your company for any future
projects where I am involved. Due to your efforts, what promised to
be a demanding, challenging move, ended up being a very smooth
operation which ran without any hitches.
