Case studies: Retail

QVC

When global shopping channel QVC needed to dispose of a large quantity of unwanted monitors, they took advantage of Function's IT disposal service. Carried out in accordance with the WEEE Directive, the service aims to minimise the impact of electrical and electronic goods on the environment by increasing re-use and recycling and reducing the amount of waste going to landfill.

Each monitor was recorded on to an asset-tracking database where information relating to the manufacturer, specification, serial number was recorded. They were then tested and graded and re-distributed on behalf of QVC.

FCUK

Function was appointed to relocate clothing retailer FCUK from Great Portland Street, W1, to new offices in Camden. Having decided to use a mixture of new and existing furniture, Function provided FCUK with a full on-site move-management service to ensure the relocation went smoothly.

The project was carried out over two weekends _ during phase one around half of the staff were moved, with the remainder being moved during the second weekend. Both groups were back to work the following Monday. On completion of the job, Function disposed of FCUK's unwanted existing furniture in an environmentally-friendly manner.
