Maudsley Hospital Trust
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust provides mental health and substance misuse services to people from across the South East. When they needed to move premises, Function helped the Trust to carry out the relocation of laboratories, administrative areas and heavy machinery. Laboratory moves included decommissioning specialist equipment such as test benches, E & M supplies, test hoods, diagnostic equipment, CT scanners and haematology analysers.
After decommissioning, Function staff took responsibility for safe and secure packing of the equipment, using sterile materials where appropriate, including anti-static bubble wrap, polythene wraps/bags and moulded plastic crates. General laboratory equipment, including all glassware, was individually wrapped and packed using tissue paper, bubble wrap and triple-skin specialist cartons.
Recommissioning services included not only full testing and connection, but also recalibration and PAT testing of equipment. All chemical and toxic materials were handled and transported by HazChem-accredited operatives who worked closely with the Trust’s Facilities Department to ensure total compliance with Health and Safety considerations.
