Bristows

Function were appointed by high profile lawyers Bristows, to relocate 171 of their personnel from 4 sites in Lincoln's Inn Fields, London WC1 to Levels 1, 2 and Basement at 100 Victoria Embankment.

To ensure the job was a total success Function provided a move management service on site throughout the relocation process which involved 20 days pre-move planning, 6 days move co-ordination and 3 days post-move help desk.

The move included removing 200 lm of personal filing / desk contents, sequential packing, removal and unpacking of 2,500 lm of bulk filing along with 420 lm of library material and the careful packing, relocation and unpacking of approximately 50 items of artwork and a warrior head sculpture weighing around 500kg.

In total the overall volume of items relocated amounted to 30 vehicle loads.
Function liaised with sister company Furniture for Business who supplied new furniture on the project to co-ordinate deliveries and man power.

Following a successful move Bristows retained Function's services as move manager to clear and dispose of their redundant furniture which amounted to 26 vehicle loads.

Via existing strategic partnerships, Function arranged for the furniture to be recycled thus avoiding landfill and for IT equipment to be donated to local schools and a charitable organisation that distributes equipment to third world countries such as Africa.

Reed Smith Richards Butler

When the Reed Smith and Richards Butler merger was approved, Function was appointed as move managers. Over a four-month period, Function was responsible for planning, managing and implementing the relocation between two sites of around 400 members of staff. Move-management services included leading daily project planning meetings, communicating with partners and staff, issuing of weekly newsletters, drawing updates, furniture audits and labeling.

The physical move implementation included IT decommissioning and recommissioning services and furniture moves and reconfiguration, with Function supplying additional components and new worktops.

For the new scheme to work it was essential that all staff dramatically reduced their filing. This was a real challenge, which all staff embraced, with one department reducing their filing by 600 linear metres! After archiving or disposal, there still remained over 2000 linear metres of legal filing which was sequentially packed and unpacked by Function as part of move.

Morgan Lewis

Function helped US law firm Morgan Lewis move into their prestigious new premises in St Pauls. The move was seamless and included a full IT decommissioning and recommissioning service. Embracing Morgan Lewis' corporate and social responsibility was a crucial part of the project. Working in partnership with Green Works, Function managed to recycle and redistribute over 90% of unwanted furniture, mainly to the charitable sector.
